There was one member here who had gotten a newer doll from eBay that had silver eye. I think it was kitschywoman (?). I can't remember for sure.

But it seems to mostly be the older dolls that it happens to. Mine was 15 years old when it happened: http://www.angelfire.com/mi/FAST/silvereye.html

So can the doll come that way?? I have a molly doll and her silver eye looks natural. Also I have heard that they can develop over time.

    ....???

    It's both.

The eyes have to be defective to be prone to silver eye. However, some dolls develop it sooner, some later, some not at all. So even though you may have a defective eye, you never know when or if it may actually go silver.

Getting water or storing the doll in very humid conditions can make it show up sooner too. So basically although the eyes are defective, it's up to chance if they actually go silver.

GreyMyst nailed it. Silver eye can be caused by poor doll care (water in the eyes, exposure to excessive heat) or just by the natural deterioration of time, which makes the irises in some dolls delaminate.

I thought they just accidentally made silver eyes and it was just a factory defect- well, now I know I'm wrong...
